Do supply chain software solutions really build resiliency?

Pick any disruptive event use case from supply chain case books. Flooding, strikes, pandemic, fire, hurricane. And then explore how organizations decided on an action plan, and executed it to jump back on their feet.

Leveraging the three critical components of people, processes and technology, try to understand which of these three components was the primary driver.

Suppose you had a fire and manufacturing was disrupted. You bought a supply chain planning solution that promised resiliency. It even has features to help you figure out alternate options in case of disruptive events.

So what do you do once manufacturing is disrupted? Wait for the tool to do something? Nope!

It is you people, those with skills, who then strategize alternatives, based on resiliency processes that have been put in place, and then leverage the supply chain solutions for visibility into the feasibility of options, and calculate availability, impact etc.

So, when a sales guy promises that a tool will build resiliency, the question is : Can it?

And this is the question we will discuss in today’s episode of “Think About It”.
