I see most of the discussion around Smart Fleets pivoted around better management of transportation assets and associated labor.
While that is cetainly a significant aspect, another aspect I see is that data from connected transportation assets can help us realize our vision of practical dynamic vehicle route optimization tools.
A key obstacle/challenge in developing dynamic routes is the ever changing operating parameters, that may make optimal routes generated one week, suboptimal the next week.
This can also take care of capturing the “expert” knowledge from drivers, by capturing the same data through various sensors on the smart trucks.
These simplified high level slides illustrate examples of data points that can be captured and how it can be seamlessly updated in a cloud based input database for dynamic vehicle route optimization.
