Almost a decade ago, in 2013, I decided to dig deeper into management accounting.
Though my role was that of a network route optimization manager.
I decided to pursue IMA’s CMA Program. I even passed the part 1 exam of the two-part credential in 2014, but then switched jobs after that , and could not continue pursuing the credential.

But why did I pursue management and cost accounting while working in a supply chain modeling and analytics role?
If you have worked in the area of building supply chain network models, you know how critical modeling supply chain costs accurately is.
The fact is, that, is the most important part.
I realized how critical cost accounting is for supply chain analytics. And then, my inherent nature to learn more pushed me towards pursuing the CMA program.
I reaped the benefits of knowledge gained from pursuing the certification for years, as long as I was in supply chain network modeling domain. That knowledge still helps me.
Fast forward to the present day, the importance of cost accounting, management accounting and operations finance, has not diminished.
And now, there are technologies to help with the intricate area of cost accounting, also popularly known as operations finance.
Generative AI is one of those technologies.
